What Do Users Think When Signing Up?
November 6th, 2008
Simple. They think: “I want to sign up on this site, just let me in“.
What this means to web developers?
It means that a website’s sign up form must be as painless to users as possible. If your form is simple, make it simpler.
Username, Password, E-mail. That’s it.
Once they’re signed in, make it easy to edit their profile or even import it from other platforms.
If somebody shows you ‘never seen before’ product and ask you to buy it, would you do it? Probably not. It’s the same thing with websites.
If a user can’t play with your site, see how it looks and feels he will probably leave.

Web developers might get this…. but do marketers? They are often
the source of over-complicated forms and unnecessary dross on
pages!

That’s why not only marketing is important, but all the departments in a company. It’s all about collaboration and idea sharing!
